Yes, it works! When I saw “hot dog toaster” I knew this was something I had to try. I love hot dogs, but I don’t always feel like firing up the grill or stove top if I’m in a hurry (and I don’t like microwaved hot dogs). This toaster is a perfect solution for me. Probably the thing I like the most is the fact that you can adjust the cooking settings to get the proper doneness you desire.

The time for me (start to finish) to cook hot dogs in this toaster is about three minutes. I was also pleasantly surprised that this toaster wasn’t much bigger than my normal toaster. It doesn’t take up a ton of storage or counter space. Let’s take a closer look.

Video of Me Testing This Hot Dog Toaster

This hot dog toaster (just like all toasters) is very simple to use. You insert the hot dog and the hot dog bun and adjust the cooking settings to match the doneness you desire (toasting the bun is optional, of course). In the video below I demonstrate how to use this hot dog toaster.

What You Need to Know

There are several things you should know about this toaster:

  • The Bun – Am I the only one slightly confused why we are toasting the bun? I’ve never heard of toasted hot dog buns but maybe I’m the only one. I personally don’t toast the bun when I use this toaster, I just toast the hot dog. In the video above I did demonstrate how to toast the bun in case you are interested. If you do toast the bun, read the next section.
  • If You Toast the Bun – If you do want to toast the bun, beware, the outer edges of the bun make contact with the inside of the toaster and they will burn. My advice is to toast the bun separately (for about 15-20 seconds). If you toast the bun as long as the hot dog the bun will burn around the edges. This isn’t a big deal for me since I don’t want a toasted bun.
  • How I Cook The Hot Dogs – I like to toast the hot dogs on the 4 cook time setting. I allow them to toast to completion, then I flip them, and toast them to completion again on setting 2. For me, this produces the best results. This is how I cooked the hot dogs in the video earlier if you want to see the results.

These hot dogs come out very juicy and remind me of stadium or concession stand hot dogs. In my opinion, this toaster (if you use it how I discussed above) produces results very similar to a rotisserie hot dog cooker (but only takes about three minutes).

Again, the main thing to consider is the hot dog bun. I personally don’t toast it, but if you do, you won’t want to toast it as long as the hot dogs or it will burn around the edges.

Overall, I find this toaster to be a very useful and an easy way to cook hot dogs quickly. The results are so much better than microwaved hot dogs.
